John and Friends – Not your typical gospel group…

John Steele – Guitar and Vocals

A native of Mississippi, John moved to Houston during the mid 60’s from his home state of Mississippi. By his senior year of high school he was known in Houston music circles as an accomplished musician and vocalist.

In 1969, John joined a vocal group (Future Faces) and began a three year national tour sponsored by Marriot Corp. During appearances in the Nation’s Capitol, the group often performed for President Nixon’s family and others in the political arena, as well as opening for “headliners” such as Jackie Mason, Pearl Bailey and Buddy Hackett.  Around 1973 John returned to his ‘country roots’ and had the privilege of working with country music legends such as Bill Monroe, T. G. Sheppard, Earl Thomas Connelly, Johnny Rodriguez and others. For two years during the 1980’s his band toured with George Strait and doors of opportunity quickly began to open.

Success in the world comes to some at a high price. Alcohol began to rule John’s life and major life changes had to be made. Abandoning a 25 year music career, John returned to Katy and rededicated his life to Christ. He has been serving the Lord since. “He works all things together for the good”…… Thank you Lord.

Ronnie Maness – Bass, Guitar, Vocals

Ronnie is from the North Shore area of Houston and began playing guitar in Jr. High.  He has played all types of music over the years from Classic Rock, Country, as well as Rhythm and Blues. He has performed for years in the Houston and surrounding area with numerous popular acts and has opened for such local celebrities as Shake Russell on many occasions.

John and Ronnie have walked similar paths and share similar experiences in life. In 1994 Ronnie also realized the necessity for change and with the Lords grace has turned his life around, serving the Lord with a heart to minister in music, using the gifts God has given him to glorify the Lord and to reach the hearts of the lost.

Although Ronnie and John have been good friends for nearly 30 years, they have not worked together musically until recently. “We’re excited about all this, wonder why it took so long?”

Come and enjoy the gifts that God has given these men to share with the world…you’ll be blessed!!
